| I try to take a break when I discover a run of bad cards. What do you guys do? Any sort of routine or superstition? |

Taking a break is a good idea.
I'll also switch games sometimes. If i'm getting frustrated with NLHE i'll go play 7CS or limit hold em. If i've had a cold streak in ring games i'll go play a SNG. It helps renew my confidence, as if i'm making a fresh start.
Sometimes i'll also move up in limits to try and quickly recoup my losses. This is not a good idea and from my own personal experience i do not recommend it. |

Depends upon what you consider a 'bad run of cards'?
I'm getting crappy hole cards. So what, fold em. Hope you can see some free flops from BB.
I'm getting some good hole cards, but hitting nothing on flop. Well, so what, this happens. Hold em or fold em upon situation.
I'm getting some good hole cards, hitting some flops, and am still losing. Well, so what, this happens. Analyze your preflop/postflop betting/play. Maybe your doing everything right, and the cards are beating you, this happens. Maybe you aren't, and other players are outplaying you. Address that.
The cards are always gonna be the cards. You can't change that. How you play your cards and your opponents, you have some say in that.
I often think my run of 'bad cards', will precede my run of 'good cards'. What that means is:
Don't rely on chance to be a good poker player. Rely on playing good poker, chance/luck will be the bonus. |

It happens, take a break. You'll know when to start again.
Take a look at my last post under 3/6 Live Limit -How's My Line?
$250 to $1025 in 3 sessions. One more and my BR is whole.
Life is good. |
