Follow The Queen San Francisco’s favorite game:

We play this game a lot in Texas...fun, frustrating at times...lol

Each player receives 2 cards down and one card up.

The betting is just the same as it is in 7-card stud except all queens and any card after a queen on a player’s board is wild.

Here’s an example. The player to your right gets dealt a Queen and you get dealt a 4. At this time queens and all fours are wild. If on any following streets or the same street another queen comes on someone's board the following card is wild, but queens are always wild. However, if the last card dealt on 6th street is a queen, then only queens are wild because there are no more up cards to be dealt. Hence the name "Follow the Queen".

High hand takes the pot!

Interesting, reminds me of a couple of games with similar rules. Although interesting enough, quite often the Queen is the card you don't want in many variations.

It can get interesting too, should you get a queen, changes the next card to wild, then a 2nd queen, another wild, etc., throws your hand way off! Smile But then, I guess you'd have a pair of queens??? Now, I'm confused..lol Smile

Which would mean what, the next person isn't wild? Do two wildcards cancel each other out? Maybe I shouldn't read too far into this game... Smile

Yeah.I'm confused too! I guess it's easier when you're actually playing than trying to figure it out otherwise. All I know for sure is that the next card dealt after the Queen is then a wild card, but if the next card after that is a Queen then, it changes it again...lol...clear?? Very Happy

As mud. Hehe nah that's what I was trying to ask, thanks for clearing it up.

It probably is, I realised how difficult Hold'em is to describe to somebody with no previous knowledge. Although it's second nature after a few games, I guess we all have to start somewhere.

Indeed, and I don't understand hold-em, although several people have tried to explain it to me. I halfway understand it when I'm playing, but I don't retain poker rules very long, for some odd reason! Very Happy

Hehe, Hold'em isn't overly complex but it's much easier to learn by playing the game rather than being told the rules or reading them from a book.

Then again, I'm fairly limited when it comes to knowing many variations of poker.
