I don't play much NL-ring online, so I'm welcome to any and all advice on this hand. I won an OK pot, but I don't think I played it well.
1-2 NL, me and the other guy each have about $100 on the table. A few limps, I bring it up to 10 with QQ, one call behind me and one call in front of me. Flop comes Kd-Qd-x, I make a weak lead of 8 into a $34 pot. I wanted the bet to look weak and get a raise. The player in position on me makes it 40. I just call. My thinking is that I wanted the lead to look weak and I have to take into account that this could be the read my opponent got, and I wanted to give him another chance to bluff at it. If he has a hand, he's probably committed at this point and will pay me off. But I think my re-raise would pretty well define what I'm holding and if he's a good player he will be able to fold. And sure, the diamond's are out, but if he happens to hold a flush draw then he's comitted to the pot and isn't folding anyways.
The turn brought a third diamond. I didn't really "feel" like he was on the diamond draw, so this didn't bother me for that reason, but it was still a terrible card. Now I A.) have a hand that I have to protect in case he's holding one diamond and B.) have a board that will make it easy for him to fold.
I led out with $45, which was about all my chips, and he quickly folded.
What do you guys think of this hand? Of course the majority of opinions will probably say I should have pushed in on the flop, and I realize that's the text-book play and probably the better option, but I really wanted $60 more and just didn't feel like I was getting it if I came back over the top. Also, how would you have played the turn assuming the action on the flop stands? |

| You should of bet bigger on the flop. about the size of the pot. The turn you should of checked, let him bet diamonds or a bluff. the river comes a diamond you check fold, of course if it pairs the board you check raise or bet depending on how many chips they have left at this point. |

Indeed, the bet on the flop was an amateur call rather than a weak call - 8 into 34 isn't really anything much, at the least have made it 17 or even 34 which is a more pronounced bet. Not overly confident, but it shows a mild belief in your hand.
He would have matched this based on his raise following yours, so you may have made even more out of this hand. There was always a risk at the river with your hand, but that is a strong position to be in. |

Too weak, far too weak. It was a nice bet to keep people in the hand as it showed little confidence, but I think here it called for something a little more.
I would have stuck to half the pot, at around $17, but that's just my opinion. |
