Okay, my turn for a wierd situation... small size MTT with most of the field of 22 still in the thing. We're at level three or so and I'm on the button. I have pocket tens and four limpers ahead of me. I raise to 4x the BB and the blinds fold but the first limper (MP) goes all in. I have him covered by about 200BB at this point, but I really don't like putting my chips at risk this early. He's been pretty solid from what I've seen of him, though I doubled up on him earlier when he played a pretty lousy suited face card-low card against my suited AK.
My read on him is that he was limping in for value, but now he's trying to take down the pot with a good drawing hand that he suspects is better than my drawing hand (I usually consider tens worthless unless I can win with em preflop).
So what do you put this player on, or at this point do you not have enough info to decide and fold? |

| If that is your read then call. I think you meant you had him covered by t200 and not 200BB. I think you could be faced with a number of hands. Do the math here. You have 9.5 bets in the pot when he moves all in on you. How much is the pot now and what is it offering you in odds? If you think he has 2 overs you are a slight favorite and the pot odds are more than enough to call. If you think he has an overpair (which is possible since he was the first limper) then fold. If he has an underpair, a-x (lower than a 10) or is on a complete bluff you are at least a 3-1 favorite and possibly much better. Now just put a percentage to the possibilities and you have a pretty good idea whether to call or fold. |

Personally, I would have called him judging by the facts you laid out (with the aid of norshvind). Despite the fact he's played solidly, he isn't high on the chips if you've got him covered easily, so maybe looking to double up and get back into the game.
You have odds on your side, not 100%, but enough to make we want to see his hand. |
