 Iowa Riverboat Casinos & Gambling

Iowa Riverboat Casinos & Gambling

Gambling in Iowa, is tightly regulated. The Iowa state governor in has taken an incredibly business minded approach of allowing gambling within the state of Iowa. The levels of taxes paid on gambling within Iowa is pretty high, however, they’ve used the tax money from gambling to fund many state projects, much to the disgust of opposing groups. Projects ranging for local state run schools and the environment are just some of the institutions and services to benefit from Iowa casinos and gambling establishments.

Within the state of Iowa, in recent years, more than one casino has been built, especially in the most unexpected areas. The Iowa government have been using casinos as a way of boosting failing local economies. The creation of a casino, even in a major city, will always boost the surrounding area. Jobs will always be a major attraction when dishing out licences. The local boost to the economy has led to tourism within Iowa to increase significantly.

This leap in tourism has led to the creation of many businesses that provide other tourist services even from neighbouring states or countries. Hotels and Motels are on the rise in the major cities of Iowa.

The high levels of tourism, and local gambling has led to a sharp rise in the levels of I gambling that has taken place within many of Iowa’s riverboat and racetrack casinos across the state. Last year alone, the gambling community spent a record $1.1 billion in Iowa. The taxes generated from these record profits have gone directly back into the community for the direct benefit of the locals, who are now seeing school, environmental and infrastructure programs in action.

These high levels of gambling have led many to believe that the people of Iowa have a gambling problem. However, this rumour is unfounded. A number of studies by the Casino industry and independent studies have concluded that over 98% of the gamblers within the state of Iowa take their gambling responsibly. This shows us that the majority of the people within Iowa, or the tourists that use the casinos are not addicted to this activity. They are merely spending quality time in an establishment with a friendly, fun, and lively atmosphere.

The legalisation of online poker, has contributed to the large and popular industry within the state. More and more people are now enjoying the thrill of spending small amounts of cash on a fun and enjoyable game from their living rooms. They are still able to converse with the people at the other end of their computers, in a similar way that online gamers do. The introduction of online poker is a popular move within the state, which also has legal: slots, pari-mutuel, and normal poker, just to name a few of the games that can be enjoyed within many of the establishments across the state.

Gambling on the dogs and the horses in Iowa is of ever increasing popularity. Many people will gather and enjoy the atmosphere whilst watching and praying that their luck is in. This is only one part of the reason that many go to the tracks. They go for the social side as well. Within many of the tracks across Iowa there are now areas to eat and drink, almost like a bar to converse in. Furthermore, there is an ever increasing chance that slot machines will be added to the race tracks, so if the local people, or the many tourists that these establishments attract, feel like betting their money in a different way, they will be able to save the journey between two establishments.

Throughout the state you will also find many billboards and other means of advertising that promote gambling within Iowa State. It is hard to go across the state without seeing at least one of these signs, which shows how popular the gambling has become. It is also a major point for tourists within the state; it shows that the state is managing the levels of gambling responsibly. Many of the billboards and other forms of advertisements advertise heavily the usage of responsible gambling, something which the people of the state have taken to heart. Although gambling within the state is on the rise, the levels of people with addictions are at a low in comparison to the country. This is one of the many forms which gambling has taken a positive affect within the state.

Gambling within Iowa has also taken on some other forms, which many could not have expected to happen. The casinos within Iowa pay a large amount in taxes and in other ways to help the economy, which they are situated within; they are also regulated by many other boards. These boards are usually non-profit and are ran and maintained by volunteers. However, these are not what were unexpected. What was unexpected was the levels that the gambling industry would contribute and help the surrounding economy; furthermore, the levels of popularity of the gambling establishments, such as casinos and racetracks, were simply stunning. This can be seen across the state, if you are to go anywhere across the state of Iowa, you are likely to come across a variety of casinos, situated in areas which you may not have originally contemplated seeing them. You’re likely to find many racetracks that have been recently reopened, and you are also likely to find many different riverboat casinos. Riverboat casinos are a rising trend and many more are going to be seen within the next few years.

The levels that gambling has helped the state are unprecedented. The gambling industry is continuously giving back to the community in Iowa and that will help the industry grow and continue to serve people with the chance of online poker, video poker, slot machines, tabs and many other enjoyable games.
